About WMA
The Association was formed in February 1982, for the purpose of uniting all Masters cross-country skiers world-wide in whom the desire to excel still burns strongly. The Association provides a common international format for top competitive skiers, as well as for those who simply enjoy racing, regardless of the ranking.  


REPRESENTATION OF THE  ASSOCIATION:

 

 

The WMA functions with a President, three Vice-Presidents (one of whom is the Technical Co-ordinator), a Secretary/ Treasurer and one Director for each Nation joining the WMA. 
Each member including all Honorary Presidents of the WMA have a vote in the Annual Meeting.

 

AFFILIATION WITH FIS:

THE OBJECTIVES ARE: 

 

 

 

To cooperate with the FIS and all National Skifederations. 
To promote Masters XC-skiing world-wide. 

To support the National Directors in organizing National Championships and International Masters Competitions. 

To fully cooperate with the media and to look for the best possible information policy.

MASTERS WORLD CUP:

 

One Masters World Cup is held each year. The Masters World Cup is an unofficial World championship for veterans in XC-skiing.

 

 

 

 

FURTHER REGULATIONS:

 

 

AGE LIMIT: 

 

Masters racers must be over 30 years of age as of the prior December 31st.

 

CLASSES:

 

30 to 85 years, in 5-year-groups.

TECHNIQUE:

 

Classical or Free.

 

DISTANCES:

 

5, 10, 15, 30 and 45 km according to the age.

 

RELAYS: 

 


Men:      4 x 5 km (2 x C + 2 x F), 
Ladys:   4 x 5 km (2 x C + 2 x F)

 

REQUIREMENTS TO THE  COURSES:

 

 

The difficulty requirements are set at approximate 50% of those laid down by the Rules for International Skiing Competitions-Cross-Country (ICR) issued by the International Skiing Federation (FIS). 
No dangerous sections are allowed.
